Welcome to California Hog Hunter. Our newsletter (and this web site) is the No. 1 source for wild hog hunting information in California. While this site is still growing and not all of these features are complete yet, this is what you will find here:

Guides & Outfitters: Here you will find information on all of the state’s pig hunting guides and outfitters. Our listing here also has a direct link to their web sites (where available) so you can do hog hunting research on-line from one source. You can download an evaluation form and tell us your experiences – good, bad, or ugly – with your guide, and that information will be posted here and in our newsletter for other hunters to see.

Public Land Hunting: On our back issues page, you can download the first four issues of our newsletter – free – and they include maps and details about four of the best public land hog hunting spots in California – and a lot more. Recent issues, still available here on the web site for a modest fee, have covered the public archery hunting program at Lake Sonora, the changes in the hog hunting program at Vandenberg AFB, Fort Hunter-Liggett is covered regularly, and Camp Roberts news is updated regularly. We know many readers want updates on places to hunt boars on public land and we consider that one of our main missions.

Your Photos and Videos: We have two ongoing contests for wild boar hunters in California. The first is our photo-story contest. E-mail or snail mail us your best hog hunting photos and the story surrounding the hog, and we’ll select the best photo-story combination for use each quarter in California Hog Hunter newsletter. The winner each quarter will receive a Nikko-Sterling 3.5-10x Nighteater rifle scope, but we’ll try to run most of the photos and stories here on the web site. We want you to send in brief video clips of your hog hunt, and we’ll run them here. Each quarter, our staff will select what it thinks is the best video, and the winner will get a 10x42 Alpen Optics Apex binocular. You can click here for more information on our video contest.
